Terry’s Corner speed limit hearing Dec. 1 on Camano

The Board of Island County Commissioners meets on Camano Island 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Camano Senior and Community Center, 606 Arrowhead Road, to consider Ordinance C-119-09 (R-50-09), regulating the speed limit on North Camano Drive and Sunrise Boulevard. Island County Public Works recently completed the second phase of a three-phase Terry’s Corner reconstruction project, temporarily regulating the new road in front of Camano Commons with a 25 mph speed limit. Because there was not a public hearing beforehand to legally establish the new speed limit, law enforcement response to speed limit violations have been limited to warnings. The Board of County Commissioners have the option Tuesday of confirming the 25 mph speed limit or setting another one, following public comment.
